Air Conditioning Inspections
- Building owners and managers of air-conditioning systems with an effective rated output of more than 12kW currently have a statutory obligation, under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), to ensure their systems are inspected every five years by an accredited inspector.
- The First inspection of all existing systems over 250 kw cooling capacity should have been completed by 4th January 2009.
- New systems installed over 12 kW installed after January 2008 must be inspected within 5 years of being put into service.
- A new inspection certificate will be required every 5 years

Purpose of an Inspection
The purpose of the Air Conditioning Inspection Report is to provide basic information regarding the efficiency of the air-conditioning systems that are controlled. This will form the basis for advice on how to improve the energy efficiency of the system, to identify opportunities to save energy and to reduce operating costs. This inspection will be undertaken by an independent Assessor.
